We were responsible for the construction study and production of two sculptural installations for the solo exhibition "Seven days in New Crete" by Aristeidis Lappas, which took place at the Breeder gallery in Athens. Through personal meetings with the artist and using his sketches as a reference, which we digitised, we arrived at the final form of the objects and the construction method. Aristeidis was in charge of completing the installations by applying his painting pieces on the structures. One construction concerns the form of a Minotaur and the second that of a Blooming Face.

The construction of the Minotaur has general dimensions of 300cm(H) x 225cm(W) x 8cm(D) and is supported on a pedestal measuring 225cm(W) x 80cm(D) x 12cm(H). Its main body was constructed in two pieces for ease of transportation. We used sheets of plywood and pine wood, which were processed using our CNC Router and then sandwiched together on both sides after the final shaping. For supporting the body, we built two columns/bases from hollow section steel of 50mm x 30mm. These steel supports are fastened to the pedestal with through bolts and concealed connectors after they are inserted into the two parts of the body. The large size of the pedestal prevents the artwork from tipping over in indoor conditions; for added safety, weight was added inside the pedestal.

The installation of the Face, with overall dimensions of 180cm (H) x 165cm (W) x 15cm (D), is also constructed in two parts to facilitate easy transportation of the artwork. The visible surface of the face features flowers cut from MDF in multiple locations. To create the horizontal surfaces of the face, sheets of plywood were used and processed on a CNC Router to shape its basic form, as well as the flower pocket positions. For the vertical surfaces, flexible plywood was used to create the curved contours. Finally, spacers were added at various points inside the structure to optimise its stability.
