We undertook the design assist, technical study and fabrication for the sculptural installation Orandum by Despina Charitonidi. 

Orandum is a non-functional outdoor gym equipment or performative sculpture. As a paradoxical piece of gym equipment with wrong dimensions, it remains static, covered in gold pearl paint. It is a comment on the modern culture of appearance, reflecting the futile attempt to aestheticize the body, without cultivating the mind.

The construction of the frame of the installation was made of steel galvanised pipes of different diameters with bends and curved notches where necessary. The cross-section and wall thickness of the steel pipes, as well as the method of compaction on the concrete base, were chosen after a load stress analysis of the structure.
