The Wish Line is an interactive installation hosted during the 2024-25 Christmas season in the foyer of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. It is a triple phone booth that refers to the traditional public phone booths found in the city’s public spaces. It includes three separate booths, which instead of allowing phone calls, invites SNFCC visitors to pick up the speakers and, by selecting a number, listen to Christmas wishes recorded by the SNFCC staff.

The installation is prominent, shaped around a central axis in a shape resembling a cross/star. Both symbols of guidance, inspiration and hope, elements that are also incorporated into the wishes we exchange at Christmas. Furthermore, the installation is ergonomic and accessible for people of all ages, as well as people with mobility difficulties. We aimed for the installation to be attractive in a way that attracts attention and encourages visitors participation, while at the same time having a minimal aesthetic that embodies the spirit of Christmas.

The structure is self-supporting and modular so that it can be easily transported and dismantled, leaving the building intact. The graphic design and the choice of materials and colors exude a sense of simplicity and elegance, emphasizing clean lines and creating a discreet but atmospheric Christmas setting. The central element is the lighting of the installation, which, as it follows the vertical elements of the structure and displays the title of the installation, gently diffuses into the space, offering a sense of mystagogy.
